Policy Positions

Massachusetts Congressional Election 2018 Political Courage Test

Abortion

1. Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
- Pro-choice

2. Other or expanded principles
- I am a Catholic who supports Roe v. Wade.

Budget

1. In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
- No

2. In order to balance the budget, do you support reducing defense spending?
- Yes

3. Other or expanded principles
- ---If taxes are raised, they must be fair to everyone. In general, Congress should verify they are not wasting money before they ask the American people for more tax revenue. ---I will always pay for the training and equipment needed by the troops, but my attempts to end our overseas wars will naturally start to reduce the defense budgets. Wars are expensive.

Campaign Finance

1. Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
- Yes

2. Other or expanded principles
- Our elections should be fair to every candidate--including challengers.

Economy

1. Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
- Yes

2. Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
- No

3. Other or expanded principles
- ---Federal monetary policy is the single best method for controlling the growth rate of our economy. It is fair and remains relatively free of political influence. ---Congress recently passed a trillion dollar corporate tax cut and everyone knows it all went to stock buybacks. Very few dollars ended up in the average person's paycheck.

Education

1. Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
- No

2. Other or expanded principles
- I support our K-12 public school system and our teachers. Washington should send money so teachers get a fair paycheck instead of sending standardized tests and advice on how to teach our kids. It is time to stop high-stakes testing because kids shine in many ways including art and music.I trust our teachers. My father-in-law taught in the Randolph public schools for decades.

Energy & Environment

1. Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, thermal)?
- Yes

2. Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
- Yes

3. Other or expanded principles
- I regularly fly over the Arctic as an airline pilot, and it is amazing. The ice is a different color blue. My campaign logo is a big, blue Earth.I support incentives including tax breaks for innovative environmental policies and regulatory penalties for the others. I do not support cap and trade bills because they allow dirty companies to simply buy their way out. Clean policies must work within economic limitations to become reality.

Guns

1. Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
- Yes

2. Other or expanded principles
- No one has the right to an assault weapon, but every person has the right of self-defense. As a Veteran, I do not support assault weapons outside of law enforcement. Gun safety and school safety need to take priority over unlimited access. Specifically, I support stopping assault weapon and high-capacity magazine sales, better background checks, and raising the age from 18 to 21. I fully support the 2nd Amendment and people who follow our laws, but children need to attend school without fear.

Health Care

1. Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
- No

2. Other or expanded principles
- I am fighting to save the pre-existing condition rules made legal under the ACA/Obamacare. My opponent voted against the pre-existing condition protections you love (ACA/Obamacare). I will vote NO on Medicare4All/Single Payer (HR 676). My opponent co-sponsored Medicare4All/Single Payer (HR 676).

Immigration

1. Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
- No

2. Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
- Yes

3. Other or expanded principles
- ---We are a nation of immigrants. My relatives came from Ireland, Italy, and Germany. They followed the immigration rules, then became citizens. This is how I will vote. ---I support fair global access to additional visas/green cards leading to citizenship. Immigrants who follow the visa and green card rules should have a reasonable path to citizenship. I do not support jumping to the front of the citizenship line by crossing a border without permission. ---Dreamers (federal program for children) should have a clear path to citizenship.

Marijuana

1. Do you support the legalization of marijuana for recreational purposes?
- Yes

2. Other or expanded principles
- I support federal prescriptions for medical marijuana. I also support federal approval of recreational marijuana as long as individual states, cities, and towns get to decide whether or not it is sold in their area. States must strictly regulate and properly label any products sold.

National Security

1. Should the United States use military force in order to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a nuclear weapon?
- No

2. Do you support increased American intervention in Middle Eastern conflicts beyond air support?
- No

3. Other or expanded principles
- ---The use of force question is one of the most important votes taken in Congress. It requires facts and cannot be answered as a general question. My vote will depend upon the facts.---I am a Veteran. I served over 20 years as an F-15E instructor fighter pilot with six deployments including combat time over Iraq. I also served as the commander of the drones in Turkey near Iraq and Syria. My platform centers on a way to end America's overseas wars.

Administrative Priorities

Please explain in a total of 100 words or less, your top two or three priorities if elected. If they require additional funding for implementation, please explain how you would obtain this funding.
- ---Equal Pay for Equal Work. Women should not work for 18% less money.---Affordable Health Care focused on containing costs in order to increase the quality of care. ----------Vote NO on "Medicare4All"---Save Medicare and Social Security for our Seniors.----------Vote NO on "Medicare4All"electchristopher.com
